Brick heaters are indoor infrared heaters. They go by a few other commonly known names too such as plaque heaters, stack heaters and backup heaters. They are the kind of gas heaters we have seen around for generations and generally remember when we think of our grandmother. The modern brick heaters have added safety mechanisms and the more balanced feature of lighting all of the bricks even when heating on low or medium settings.

A 100lb or larger propane tank is required. We are regularly asked if it can be installed with a smaller tank (e.g. BBQ 20lb tank). For emergency purposes you COULD use a 20lb tank, but the connection isn't designed for it and after a while the unit would freeze up and shut down. After leaving it a while the heater could be re-used, but constant freezing/unfreezing will damage the unit. Local propane companies will typically sell or lease you a 100lb tank or a 300lb tank. And the beauty of these larger tanks... They last longer, need less refills and are typically cheaper to refill (per pound) than the smaller tanks.
