This has a similar part number to the HS4000ID but in actuality they two heaters are not that similar. The HS4000ID-XL is a small version of the HS7000ID-XL and has a much higher CFM than the HS4000ID. The HS4000ID-XL comes without a burner fitted as standard but you can get one factory fitted. Choose from the Natural Gas & Propane or the oil burner - or buy both and switch between the two as and when you need to switch fuel.

A 100lb or larger propane tank is required. We are regularly asked if it can be installed with a smaller tank (e.g. BBQ 20lb tank). For emergency purposes you COULD use a 20lb tank, but the connection isn't designed for it and after a while the unit would freeze up and shut down. After leaving it a while the heater could be re-used, but constant freezing/unfreezing will damage the unit. Local propane companies will typically sell or lease you a 100lb tank or a 300lb tank. And the beauty of these larger tanks... They last longer, need less refills and are typically cheaper to refill (per pound) than the smaller tanks.
