The built in countdown timer feature is twice as good as previous designs. You can either use it to make the heater turn itself off automatically (like previous models) OR you can use it to make the heater turn itself ON automatically.
The digital thermostat allows you to set the heater to maintain a constant temperature in your space. When in AUTO mode and the temperature in your rooms reaches the temperature you selected the heater cycles itself off, when the temperature drops below your desired setting the heater cycles itself back on. The buttons are easy to work, and the numbers are half an inch tall making them mucher easier to read than other manufacturers' models.
The thermostat is flexible too, DeLonghi know that there are times when the thermostat feature isn't what you want, you just want a space heater to run and run and run. So they let you bypass the thermostat by switching from AUTO mode into HIGH mode.
Motorized oscillating base swivels the heat flow from side to side allowing you to warm every corner of the room. The oscillation is also controlled by the thermostat so when the heater is not heating the oscillation also shuts down. Not every manufacturer has switched to this style of operation yet, some still continue oscillation after the room is at the desired temperature. In fact even DeLonghi's older DFH470 and DFH480 models have this awkward design which is not only a little annoying it wastes of your electricity. The DCH4590ER space heater by DeLonghi is ahead of its rivals in looks and design.
No need to worry about overheating either. Two great safety features: If this space heater gets too warm, for example if it accidentally gets covered by a curtain or blanket, the PTC ceramic thermal cutoff automatically shuts the unit off for complete peace of mind Or if you accidentally tip-over the heater, it will automatically switch itself off.
The DCH4590ER is an update to the older DCH2590ER model in both looks and functionality.
